MOTIVATION

§  Conventional databases represent the state of an enterprise at a single moment of time

§  Many applications need information about the past

§  Medical (patient history)

§  Government

§  Payroll (Eg : Price)

WHAT IS TEMPORAL DB?

§  Temporal databases, encompass all DB applications that require some aspect of time when organizing their information.

§  Example: Temporal Databases includes Time in the Non-temporal table
